WaxWrap Waxed Cotton Food Wraps

One of the changes I made for Plastic Free July was to swap out my usual cling film and plastic food bags for a more eco-friendly option. WaxWrap Waxed Cotton Food Wraps* (£16) are an easy to use alternative to single use plastic. Made from 100% natural materials: organic cotton cloth coated in a mixture of beeswax, pine resin and jojoba oil, which all work together to keep your food fresh.

WaxWraps are both self-adhesive and waterproof and can be used to cover containers or as a second skin for fruits, vegetables and more. The natural materials allow the food to breathe, keeping it fresher for longer. The wraps are super easy to use; allow the heat of your hands to mould and shape the wrap to fit around anything, size permitted.

When utilised correctly each WaxWrap product will last for around a year, and when your WaxWrap product comes to the end of its life, simply put in your compost bin.

The WaxWrap set I choose comes in a set of three (designs may vary). Each wrap is a different size, so you can choose the perfect one for whichever food you want to store: 20x30cm/25x25cm/40x40cm.

The largest wrap was super handy for taking sandwiches to work and I didn't have to worry about where to put any rubbish afterwards as the wrap can be folded up neatly and put back into my bag after use. I washed the wrap with cold water and a little washing up liquid once I returned home and then pat dried with a clean tea towel ready for using again the next day. The smallest wrap is the perfect size to cover open tins; in my case dog food. We use half a tin in the morning and the other half in the evening. It helped to eliminate some of the smell in the fridge as normally the tins would be left uncovered. These are just a couple of the things I used the WaxWraps for but the possible uses for these wraps are endless!

Love Lula also stock the WaxWrap Waxed Cotton Food Roll in Small and Medium and a set of 3 Waxed Cotton Food Bags so there is something for everyone depending on your needs.
